Cricothyrotomy Trainer

Description:

A comfortable and secure wearable device simulates the anatomy of the patient’s neck.  The backing is Kevlar to prevent an actor from being injured during the procedure.  At the center of the device is an anatomically correct larynx. Over the larynx are layers of imitation tissue and skin, and an optional bladder that releases blood during the procedure.  The imitation skin and tissue are replaceable so the device can be used many times.  The device can be worn by a simulation  manikin or by an actor during the simulation.  These devices can be durable and realistic.  We believe that a device will likely be used for 1- 2 years before needing to be replaced. The market size for this device is estimated to be around 8,000 units/year.  This is a re-usable trainer, with replaceable parts sold separately.  We estimate that with a price of $700, this is a $6M market opportunity in the US.  At a 30% market share, a reasonable estimate would be close to $2M annual sales in the US.
